Working With God

“For we are God's fellow workers. You are God's field, God's building. (1 Corinthians 3:9 ESV)

Would your concept of serving the purposes of God change if you realized that you were not just
working for God, but in actuality working with God? It’s interesting that many people become weary in well-doing because they don’t see the immediately see the fruit of their labors, can’t hear the gratitude of others and have no other volunteers willing to “share the load.” If you can’t identify with this right now then you aren’t telling the truth because we’ve all either been there or we’re there right now.

Today, I would like to encourage you to see yourself as God’s co-worker not merely His employee. As you begin to see yourself this way you will begin to draw on God’s strength
“to will and to work for his good pleasure(see Philippians 2:13 ESV).”  I’m not saying that you will never feel tired or feel like giving up, but during these times you have to see the bigger picture because it’s not just about you, but it’s about the lives that we are meant to touch whether it be in the marketplace or in the sanctuary. I sincerely believe that God is using his children in every sphere of society not just in the church building and we need to be open to the way he is desiring to use us daily.

Co-laboring with God allows God to expand his influence through us. People will get their first glimpse of God’s goodness through you and me while we are at work, in the grocery store, at the mall, in our schools and in our neighborhoods simply because we want to see His kingdom come everywhere. In Habakkuk 2:14 we are given this hope,
“For the earth will be filled with the knowledge of the glory of the Lord as the waters cover the sea.” Labor with God until this whole world sees His glory.
