“You prepare a table before me in the presence of my enemies; you anoint my head with oil; my cup overflows.”-Psalm 23:5 (ESV)
What is your first thought when dealing with your enemies? Does your mind conceive thoughts of vengeance imagining what you would do to teach them a lesson? Do you pray a curse over their lives hoping that some misfortune comes into their life? Do you rest in God and allow him to do what’s best? Today, I want to encourage you by reminding you that God has not forgotten you and even now he is preparing a table before you in the presence of your enemies.
In this verse of scripture we see a confident outlook that finds rest in the Good Shepherd recognizing that even in the presence of his enemies God displays his favor and blessing within the life of one who will stop trying to take matters into their own hands. Also, it is important to recognize that what God does in the presence of our enemies in the present tense. It would be easy to say that this is some future tense faith promise, but there are no future tense words used nor are any past tense words used because faith is always NOW in the present tense(see Hebrews 11:1).
In Exodus 14:13 Moses teaches us how to face our enemies when at a pivotal point in Israel’s deliverance journey he declares, “And Moses said unto the people, Fear ye not, stand still, and see the salvation of the Lord, which he will shew to you to day:for the Egyptians whom ye have seen to day, ye shall see them again no more for ever(KJV).” First, you have to give up on fear because fear or dread expects for God’s salvation to work like a roll of the dice where maybe he will and maybe he won’t it. If you are going trust God then trust God! Next, learn to stop moving anxiously and stand still. We sometimes are so fearful about the unknown outcomes in times of crisis that we never rest in God. If you don’t learn to rest in God then you will never be able to see the salvation of the Lord.
Today come into a place of confidence during your crisis no matter what it looks like. Expect for God to prepare a table before you in the presence of your enemies. Expect to emerge from these times with an increase in the anointing and an increase in the favor and blessing of the Lord. You are on the verge of a breakthrough.
