“Let each of you look out not only for his own interests, but also for the interests of others.”-Philippians 2:4, NKJV
Do you understand the importance of community? As Christians we are called the Body of Christ, but most people don’t understand what that really means? The term “Body of Christ” indicates that we are unified group of believers with a common history (i.e. Christ’s death, burial and resurrection) functioning to achieve a common goal (i.e. The Great Commission). If there has ever been a time for us to live out the concept of community, now is truly that time. When come back to the basics of Christianity we will realize that the church has only been effective when we’ve learned to function as one. It is only when we allow division into our community that we become ineffective. The secular world has long observed what a divided church is incapable of doing and they have found humor in our failures. I don’t know about you, but I’m tired of being the punchline of someone else’s jokes. Let’s restore the fear of the Lord in our society, again. According to Acts 2:43-45, “Everyone around was in awe—all those wonders and signs done through the apostles! And all the believers lived in a wonderful harmony, holding everything in common. They sold whatever they owned and pooled their resources so that each person's need was met.”(Message) This community of believers becomes a force for good in the world marked by a dynamic working of the Holy Spirit’s power. We have an obligation to the world to give them an encounter with the God of power because His power working through our faith community is the only thing that can solve the world’s problems. Together we are God’s Dream Team so let’s work together and see God’s plan unfold on the earth. “For every one of Godʼs promises are “Yes” in him; therefore also through him the “Amen” is spoken, to the glory we give to God.”-2 Corinthians 1:20(NET)
What would you say if I told you that the act of personal prayer is not about questioning what God’s will is for your life, but it is more so about you coming into agreement with what the Bible clearly reveals God’s will to be? Once we come into agreement with what the Bible says about God’s will then the next step is to get into the position of receiving. You can never receive what you don’t agree with so it would be in your best interest to get into agreement with God today. In this scripture Paul teaches us that “every one of God’s promises are “Yes” in him” indicating that everything that God desires for us to have he has already declared that it belongs to us. We’ve found it so easy to blame the devil when sometimes our failure to receive what God has promised is our own fault. 2 Peter 1:3 says, “his divine power has bestowed on us everything necessary for life and godliness through the rich knowledge of the one who called us by his own glory and excellence.(NET)” Our lack of knowledge regarding God’s promises can cause us a lot of undue pain. As a matter of fact Isaiah 5:13 declares, “Therefore my people are gone into captivity, because they have no knowledge: and their honourable men are famished, and their multitude dried up with thirst.(KJV)” So now you see that through the knowledge of God’s promises we come into agreement with God and receive “everything necessary for life and godliness” and because of a lack of knowledge we go into captivity, the honorable go hungry and people become extremely dry and thirsty. Today come into agreement with God and receive what he has declared already belongs to you. Receive your healing. Receive your deliverance. Receive the salvation of your unsaved loved ones. Once Jesus declared “It is finished” that declaration forever echoes throughout eternity for generation after generation and continually results in the answers to your prayers, healing in your body and victory over every problem that you face in life. |
